Published by King Brillip Comics, comic book writer Charlie McFarland and artist Luis Morocho invite you to an underwater western filled with anthropomorphic sealife in the first issue of "Pistol Shrimp." A comic book issue focusing on the titular character, Pistol Shrimp, and his trusty steed, Reggie, a seahorse.

Pistol Shrimp Issue 2 continues his quest to find his lost wife and unborn child. But when a Shark Outlaw linked to the same Shark Outlaws from issue 1 ambushes Pistol Shrimp he has to fight for his life. A fight which leads to him, Reggie and some new friends he’s made, is swallowed whole by a hungry whale.  Will Pistol Shrimp, Reggie and their new friends make it out of the belly of the whale or will they be trapped there forever?

Luis Morocho’s artwork continues to impress as he experiments with new and inventive points of view that draws the reader straight into the perspective of Shrimp and his fellow anthropomorphic fish creatures. Despite this, letterer Buddy Beaudoin needs to be celebrated for his work on Issue 2 because you really get a feeling for what it’s like to be swallowed by a whale.

There’s some somber moments of sadness and betrayal but Issue 2 still bears that quintessential Charlie McFarland flavour. One of fun, adventure and raucous laughter.

Pistol Shrimp continues to be a comic book for fans of light-hearted easy-to-read spaghetti western fun. Even if this Issue does end on a cliffhanger but, oops, I’ve already said too much!
